Welcome to “Page Formatting.” If you’ve finished a manuscript in Word, you may be wondering how to turn it into a polished interior for print without wrestling with every page by hand. Today, we’re looking at a self-service book-formatting tool designed to take DOC and DOCX files and produce print-ready PDF interiors for KDP, IngramSpark, or a commercial printer.

First, the tool helps establish the shape of your book. After you upload your manuscript, AI looks for likely chapters, as well as front and back matter. That can give you a useful starting structure, rather than making you identify every section from scratch. It’s still worth reviewing the result: manuscripts vary, and headings or section breaks don’t always follow a predictable pattern. Think of the detection as a helpful first pass, not a substitute for checking your book.

Second, you can tailor the page formatting to your project. Choose a trim size, then adjust details such as fonts, spacing, drop caps, and page numbers. These choices affect more than appearance. They shape the reading experience and help the interior feel consistent from opening pages through the final chapter. If you’re preparing a file for a particular publishing route, check that your selected specifications match the requirements of your printer or platform before you send the PDF along.

Third, you don’t have to navigate every adjustment through settings alone. The AI assistant, Vana, accepts plain-English requests. You might ask for more space between paragraphs, a different font, or a change to the treatment of chapter openings. That conversational approach can make revisions feel more approachable, especially if you know what you want visually but aren’t sure which formatting control to use. After a change, take time to review the pages—particularly chapter starts, page turns, and any unusual elements in the manuscript.

There’s also an optional Human Fix service for cases where the automated workflow needs a closer look. If a layout has tricky details or you spot something that needs manual correction, you can request help rather than trying to solve every issue on your own. That option adds a human review path while keeping the core process self-service.

The pricing uses credits, and those credits never expire. That means you don’t have to rush to use them within a short window; you can work on a project when you’re ready. When your PDF is generated, you receive it through a presigned S3 link that remains valid for 24 hours. Revisit the project after that, and the PDF is automatically generated again, so an expired link doesn’t mean you’ve lost access to your formatted interior.

Good page formatting is part visual design, part careful quality check. A tool that combines manuscript analysis, flexible styling, plain-English assistance, and optional human corrections can make the process easier to manage. Review the finished pages closely, confirm your printer’s specifications, and you’ll be in a stronger position to move your manuscript from Word toward a print-ready book.
